I had the absolute pleasure of having Mr. Willie Johnson in the studio last week. Today, he turns 77! He was helping me with another photography project, and I couldn’t resist snapping a few extra frames as he talked. After he left, it hit me—I never asked him to smile. Willie was too engrossed... he took the whole thing seriously, like a skilled actor fully committed to his role.. hence his serious expression. We love it!
I really enjoyed hearing his stories... of Blytheville, his family. What his eyes must have seen over almost eight decades. He’s incredibly proud of his daughter, our friend, Vanessa, who’s worked her way up from dispatcher to assistant police chief. He even joked that she does way too much and doesn’t know how to slow down!
We asked Vanessa to help us in paying tribute to this remarkable guy.. her dad!

Dad,
First let me start by saying Thank you Lord, for another day in the land of the living. Another year of life for you....another birthday. 77 years young....wow. Many didn't make it, but I'm glad you're one of the ones who did!!
I just wanted to take the time to give you your flowers on your special day. Dad, you have been an amazing father. Dedicated to your family, dependable and you never hesitate to be there to help in the times of need. You've been with me throughout my career and somehow it meant the most to me to have you pin me for my latest achievement. You have opened your ears for me on numerous occasions, supported my ideas and even jumped on board for a lot of my shenanigans. Lol the memories we have created on our road trips, the wisdom you've shared with us all, will never go unappreciated. I've watched you be so strong after losing Mom and have constantly held us all together and held us up when the burdens were too heavy to carry. For all of that, I say thank you!! 77 and still handsome, my Dad, my Father, my Silver Foxx.....enjoy your day Dad. I love you.
